I got an Imago CD for 50 pesos at Tokyo Tokyo. “Itadakimasu!” Imago Loves Tokyo Tokyo says the cover. The Imago guys should have at least tried dressing themselves up as funky chefs for the cover photo. Food preparation entails as much art as music composition.

Anyway, the guys looked great in Japanese pop fashion they could kill a Sumo wrestler without having to move a muscle. Speaking of Sumo wrestler, the 17-track CD comes with every purchase of Sumo meal, just be sure you've got an extra 50 bucks otherwise you'll end up begging for it.

When “Taning” and “Akap” rattled the speakers and tickled eardrums and imagination of the suffering masses, Imago then started drawing a select crowd of music lovers searching for poetry in rock music. Fans got what they wished for and brought home an escape from everyday misery as a consoaltion. It's either Aia de Leon's voice and song delivery or her choice of lyrics that frees the mind just as alcohol and caffeine do, beating the hell out of the soul in the process. Either way, songs of Imago get their air of mystery from it.

The first track “Sundo” emits the same infectious air. Imago can whip up a mellow song without having to sound tender and mushy.

The first verse could have been Gabriela Silang's battlecry when she decided to join her husband Diego in the revolution. It evokes so much hope and unyielding courage. Aia de Leon give the damsel in distress a good kick in the ass here. She'll take the sword and shield and search for truth and love come hell or high water.

No, she isn't the type who will just sit in a corner and wait for her knight in shining armor. She'll go out of her way and kill dragons and monsters; like an angel in flight armed with razor-sharp sword effortlessly chopping off heads and limbs from beasts. Just so she can knell beside her fallen knight and kiss his open wounds.
